Whole school worship happens every day and is an opportunity for our school community to come together, either as a whole school or in classes or smaller groups.
We aim to keep a similar structure to each worship that includes opportunities to:
-
- Gather and reflect.
- Hear the Word – This is normally linked to a value or part of our values theme.
- Respond, reflect or interpret.
- Fulfill a mission – The challenge for the community.
The worship time table for 2025 -2026 is as follows:
Monday Virtues Worship: Developing school values and living our mission.
Tuesday Gospel Worship: Preparing for Mass.
Wednesday Singing Worship: Celebrating the word through song.
Thursday Class Worship: Lead by class prayer leaders (reflecting RE Theme)
Friday Celebration Worship: Overview of week, celebrating the outcomes of the week (Ambassador led)

Participation in the parish Mass
In addition to our weekly worship children also join the parish masses across the year. This participation varies in our commitment. Where classes join the Mass, this is normally just to join the community with little commitment to support the Mass.
Where classes join as a school, we will normally have a greater input and will support the Mass with readers, children to lead the prayers of the Faithful and also participate in preparing for the sacrament. Some pupils will also act as acolytes and support the priests in the mass.
Participation in diocese, partnership and community events
Children in the school also attend and support other masses or services such as the Chaplaincy Commissioning Service and the Leavers Mass.
Staff regularly attend the Education Mass and special celebrations in the parish church such as children’s First Holy Communion.
Worship in Term 1
This term we are linking worship to the Options for the Poor element Catholic Social teaching and our School Virtue of “Serving and Giving”. Click on the worship to see a preview of our message, challenge and mission.
Children were invited to see themselves as part of a school and wider community and that it is through solidarity that we can make our world and community a better place.
Illustrations from the book “The Gigantic Turnip by Aleksei Tolstoy were used to illustrate the importance of community
Our focus was the challenges of volunteering for positions of responsibility in our School Chaplaincy Team (Prayer Leaders, School Stewards and School Ambassadors [Year 6]).
The canonization of St Carlos Acutis was used as a starting point to help the children reflect on motivation to make choices for the common good. We also explored how choices are a key part of electing people to lead our community
We explored how we can build community through working together for the good of others rather than putting ourselves first.
The “parable of the balloon” was used to illustrate how working with others is much quicker than just thinking about ourselves.
WE considered how going good deeds for others by “filling their bucket” enables us to meet our school virtues, mission and many elements of Catholic Social Teaching.
