To live a Catholic life, all within our community are invited to participate in both communal and personal practices. From the perspective of the children and the school’s operation this means that children have the opportunity to:
- Attend Mass: Participating in Masses across the year. These masses recognise holy days and other significant events that sit within the Liturgical and school year. All children are invited to receive a blessing and those children who have had their first Holy Communion will have the opportunity to share in the Eucharist.
- Receive sacraments frequently: As outlined above, children have the opportunity to receive the Eucharist in school masses. Catholic and none catholic children are also invited to attend parish masses and our weekly worship programme also prepares children for this weekly event. As part of the school’s Mass attendance, we are also introducing a programme of Reconciliation (Confession) before the children attend Mass.
- Embrace prayer: Daily personal prayer, meditation, reflection on the scripture, and praying the Rosary and spontaneous prayer are an integral part of our routine and aim to help children have a connection with God.
- Perform acts of kindness and forgiveness: This involves putting faith into action through small acts of kindness as well as supporting charities and service to others.
- Support the Church: We do this through the fostering of school links, supporting church fundraising initiatives and inviting parishioners and the parish priest to join us for events in the school.
- Cultivate virtues: Our virtues are central to our work as a school and are evolving as a “Golden thread” that permeates through all that we do.
